The Global reality of children in poverty requires both immediate and long term responses.
Globally, over 385 million children live in extreme poverty according to the World Bank. Poverty is more than the lack of income. It is also about a lack of life sustaining resources such as adequate food, clean water, shelter and clothing as well as access to education and health services. Every year 3.1 million children die because of inadequate nutrition. Half of the 105 million displaced people in the world are children. In the United States more than 15 million children live in poverty.
By joining with other organizations and agencies, Be the Blessing is seeking to respond to the multiple dimensions of childhood poverty as well as the long term systemic solutions needed.
